Us girls from the IEA (International Expat Association) Board planned a day trip to Bentota to visit two gardens of the very famous Sri Lankan architects, the late Bawa brothers. Three cars left Colombo at 7:30am with 9 board members  to reach the first garden of Geaofrey Bawa in Lunaganga at 11am.  A vast garden with lots of different features and various rooms incorporated in the landscape took us just under 2 hours to walk around.

A delicious lunch at Rock Villa of Taru Villas followed at 13.00 where I even managed to have a quick deep in a warm swimming pool and we played some board games to entertain ourselves.  The second garden was that of Bevis Bawa that we visited at 16.00 for about an hour or so; a much smaller property. 

Chatting, laughing, learning and being together making memories I never thought I would make. My mummy came with us and she managed all the walking in that heat. We were so tired in the evening but she said, “I would not have missed it for anything!”
