Misa’s work experience

Monday to Friday 20th to 24th June 2022

Wanting to give Misa an insight into business and what it is like to have the commitments that come with work, we managed to organise him a week’s work experience at Blade Motorcycles, the Honda and Triumph dealer in Stratford-upon-Avon that Steve has a long standing relationship with.

He proudly received a lovely cotton polo shirt with their logo to feel part of the team, and I understand from the manager that he fitted well. Insurance restrictions unfortunately limited what he could do, but he wrote as follows to the manager after his last day:

Thank you for having me for the three days I was able to spend at Blade Motorcycles for unpaid work experience. I enjoyed being able to see the inner workings of a motorcycle business, especially because of the complete trust that was given to me. You and your team made me feel very welcome even down to the polo shirt and even though I will have been a hindrance. I know you were very limited with what you could allow me to do but am still grateful. With no experience of work before I have often wondered how different parts of a business work together as a team, and now I have an idea.

I walked around the building to say thank you and goodbye to everyone before I left on Friday afternoon and am sorry that I could not shake your hand as you were in a meeting. Please accept this email instead and I look forwards to meeting you next time I ride in with my Dad.”

Most days he went in with Steve by motorcycle or by car, but on one occasion took the bus by himself.  We are very proud of him and the maturity that he demonstrated in many different ways.
