Happy Birthday Valentina
Emi’s favourite horse, Valentina, is named thus having been born on Valentine’s Day eight years ago. With Valentine’s Day falling on a Sunday this year, what better way to mark it than to make a cake and take it along in person!
Having obtained a kilo and a half of horse food, Emi mixed it with grated carrot and apple, honey and egg to make her cake, decorated with mints in the shape of a V. Her excitement was palpable, and with great pride she patted Valentina and then gave her some cake to eat – whereupon the mints were snaffled and the rest left on the plate! We never realised horses could be so dexterous with their tongues!
It was then explained that Valentina doesn’t like eating in the heat of the day so would enjoy her cake later. No such fussiness with all the other horses and ponies who gobbled theirs down and wished for more!
Misa then got to ride Valentina for his lesson, Emi riding young Ginny; technically a pony as she is not quite tall enough to be classified as a horse, she appeared to be on best behaviour with her usual stubbornness absent but then decided she’d like to roll on the ground, with Emi in the saddle! Thankfully one of the stable boys was to hand and able to convince Ginny otherwise.
