Girls go glamping

Monday 18. – Wednesday 20th July 2022

We could not have declined an invitation from my friend Mirka (she studied to be a midwife with me, but is now a business woman, a project manager, a full time mother, a carer …..you name it) who has invested in 2 big tents/jurts (looking like a small circus tent) with adjacent kitchen and en-suite facilities – all in the middle of beautiful nature adjacent to a golf course.  Time for some luxurious glamping!

“You must come and bring your mum with you.  She has never experienced such a thing”, she told me excitedly. So we fixed a date and we went (taking it via IKEA for their famous meatballs and veggie balls).  My friend was right.  Mum was surprised to see such a tranquil and unique place.

The sun was shining when we arrived to a lovely welcome from Mirka.  She had clearly put her heart and soul into the jurts, her personal touch and attention to detail apparent everywhere.  A coffee on the terrace was followed by delicious goulash with sourdough bread for dinner.  The following morning, a healthy breakfast with freshly baked pastries (you bake them yourself in a fast air-fryer – what a satisfying process) in an elegantly decorated environment was like a fairy-tale.

By then it was raining, but we loved the noise of the rain drops on the ceiling of the tent, so soothing and relaxing when we were playing cards, reading, savouring each moment of being present.

As a mature scout, I started the fire (in the rain!) taking 45mins to get the jacuzzi water in the big barrel to a lovely 42C – the same as the hot springs we visited near Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand I remembered.  My friend and her daughter came in the afternoon and we loved sharing the experience together.

Two nights in this place was bliss for soul and mind, the fresh air and greenery being just what was needed to chill and enjoy each others’ company.  The big window on the top  was giving us so much light during the day and a magical picture of stars and the pitch black sky in the evening – we loved it.

I wish all people have the opportunity to experience such a thing, being so close to nature either glamping, in a cottage in the woods or wild camping.
