First lunch out after lockdown easing
Thursday 3rd June 2021
We needed an excuse to get my Mummy out of the house, and Nikolka’s 33rd birthday was the opportunity; She was feeling up to it and the week was the one where the Covid-19 regulations started to ease off.
Nikolka is a family friend we have known since she was 7 months old and who has become like my sister and my parent’s daughter. Her 2 year old son Adamek is my mum’s sunshine these days; he makes her to get up each morning, knowing he will come and visit her. My mummy used to spend long periods of time in England with us and her presence and help allowed me to work full time so she was used to be with our children which she enjoyed very much. It was perfect timing as Adamek was born 4 months before we moved to Sri Lanka and I think she felt sad not having our kids with her, but now felt needed and had a purpose in life again. Things always happen for a reason.
We gave her 5 beautiful red roses and some Sri Lankan products, and her partner Martin treated us to a tasty lunch in a nice Greek restaurant called Hermes in the town square of Krnov. A stop at a sweet shop (these are called cukrarna – “tsukrarna”) topped it up, courtesy of my mummy. She loves calling in at a cukrarna. Who would not?
