Easter cakes for dear friends
Saturday 11. 4 2020
Easter was approaching, and I decided to bake a cake each for my 4 closest friends to put on their Sunday Easter table. My mixer is broken (NOOOOOO) and because we are under curfew Steve can’t go to buy the tool he needs to take it apart and find out what’s wrong. My whisk is skewed too (probably I overused it!) but despite all of that, I managed.
Two chocolate cakes with chocolate pudding butter cream, one carrot cake with cheese butter cream and one fruit loaf. Steve carefully engineered solid bases out of the only scrap cardboard that we had and covered them in aluminium foil. I started to bake on Friday and on Saturday at 5pm, two friends’ husbands with special curfew passes came and collected theirs plus those for others
We kept one fruit loaf for ourselves and ate it in two settings – why do those homemade cakes tastes so delicious?! You can get some cakes to be delivered from a hotel and some cafes, but the homemade ones are just so good. I hope my friends enjoyed eating them as much as I did making them with all my love for their families.
