Dragonfly
Wings beating in a blur and darting around to catch tiny midges, dragonflies were constant daytime guests over the swimming pool at Bellini Blue. I decided to take the challenge of successfully photographing one in flight – no mean feat either for me or the camera\’s focus abilities with a long lens and such a fast moving object at close range.
Instead of chasing, I kept the aim constant and with optimum shutter speed, focus type, and approximate focus distance already set, waited for the dragonfly to come in to view and pause for the split second that I needed.

For the photographers: Canon 5D mk IV with EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens at 400 mm. Back button servo focus enabled and the cross-type focus points selected. Seven frames per second continuous shooting at 1/8000 second per frame.
