Board member of the IEA
Tuesday 11th February 2020
Sometime in January I was approached by the board of IEA (International Expat Association) to become one of them and to be responsible for the Newcomers. Bear in mind, I become a member of this organisation only in October 2019, so fairly new myself. I took 24 hours to decide and said yes! Why not!
I much prefer to organise and do jobs, rather than sit and make small talk. Don’t get me wrong, I like to relax and make small talk with people, but I would choose to do it by the pool or on the beach.
As part of my role, each month I organise a Newcomers Coffee morning, where invited newcomers learn the rules, how IEA works and how best to benefit from the membership. Tuesday 11th Feb was my first meeting in my new role and we welcomed 7 new members who introduced themselves into the IEA family.
Coffee mornings, yes, as you know I love my coffee, however it is very hard to find a tasty coffee here, which is made how I like with fresh semi skimmed milk!
I made 15 small packets of 4 heart Valentine’s cookies and raised £18 for our chosen charity we have about 7 of them). Everyone was complimenting and saying they are melting in your mouth.
