New foal Poppie
12th November 2020
For the first time in my life I have seen a baby foal, not even 24 hours old; born in the riding club where Emilka has her lessons, we were fortunate to see her as we were there. So cute, what a clever mummy horse Storm. She birthed on her own without human help, the other horses alerting the carers to come and see.
A suggestion board was put up and names were listed; Teacup, Rosie, Winter, Fudge – you name it. As the foal was born on 11th November, I suggested that she be named Poppy; a suitable name for Remembrance Day with the significant connection easily remembered.
All suggestions were considered, a few names were shortlisted by the owners and the winner was voted – Poppie; just a different spelling. I though it had a high chance of winning and I was glad it got picked up.
Happy life, Poppie!
Her mummy Storm and daddy Robin should be proud as the latter is Emilka’s favourite pony. We saw her two weeks later, outside roaming around her mummy freely. What a cute sight.
