What is the best dinner to celebrate?  Roast dinner any day, even in the 32C heat. Our new neighbor Rebcecca from the UK had finished her grueling 28 days solitary quarantine (14 days locked in a hotel room and another 14 in her apartment) so we thought a dinner with red wine would be a perfect celebration. Pavel joined as well as he had a very good reason to celebrate too; getting permission for his family to join him in Sri Lanka.

The shop on 5th floor is my saviour and I can get almost anything staple there and on this occasion I managed to buy chicken, potatoes, cauliflower (for cauliflower cheese),  carrots, apples (for apple crumble) and vanilla ice cream.  Wine had already been bought as soon as the previous lockdown finished! 

Even though I have a small kitchen with minimal utensils and kitchenware, I managed to cook it to everyone\’s satisfaction, using my last chicken Bisto granules to make an onion gravy.  Eating the dinner we felt at home in England for a few minutes.
