Slave Island
You’ve read previously here a little of the history of Slave Island, but something I’ve not shown before is the contrast between this fast reducing relic of a bygone era and the increasing number of enormous glass towers that it now lives cheek by jowl with.
I’ve been waiting for the perfect mix of early morning light and blue sky at a time when I am free to indulge in some creative photography, but ended up having such opportunity by chance a few days ago when all I had with me was a Samsung S10 smartphone.
Leaving home at 07:30am for a meeting, a few minutes later I was passing through Slave Island with close to the conditions that I’d been waiting for. Asking the driver to stop and wait for me, I walked briskly back up the road to put sufficient distance between me and my subject as to allow use of the telephoto lens option. The result was as above, but I still fancy going back with some professional gear half an hour earlier in the day to capture what remains in my mind’s eye.
