I so wanted to read in lock-down.

However, my only book with me in our apartment is a book given to me by my colleagues in Oxford as a goodbye present, and I read that one a few weeks after arrival in Colombo.

We meet other families by the pool, so I asked if there was anyone who could lend me a book, and I immediately got my hands on two.

You would not believe, in three days I had read them both! I even made a hole in the rattan chair after spending one night on the balcony until 1.30am as I could not put the book down and I had to finish it.  (Actually, the chair has gone brittle in the strong sunlight but it was my reading session that finished it off!)

Each book described a harrowing story of the main character, strong women, and how they managed to face unfortunate fate and torture, finally finding peace in their souls and happiness in their life. I highly recommend.

I have already borrowed another book.
