Remote Schooling
Ten weeks in and the school desk remains the dining room table or a desk at the small business centre in the apartment tower. I wrote previously that one of the reasons we chose the children’s school was their embracing of technology, but we never realised how profound this was going to turn out to be. Misa and Emi are completely in to the swing of it and have long been adept at navigating Microsoft Teams in a classroom setting, not just for homework submission. A good job with end of school year tests just around the corner!
I met one of the school’s teachers in the business centre this morning and she explained the challenge of planning for power cuts during the tests; a number of districts have suffered power failures in the past week, these being especially prevalent during torrential rain and electrical storms. Without giving anything away here (the children sometimes read this blog) I was impressed at the creativity to achieve continuity and to mitigate cheating in the event of any re-run!
