Halloween
31.10 2019
I thought our 13 years old teenagers will not be going Trick or Treating on Halloween in Sri Lanka this year, but how wrong was I!
Halloween is not a big thing in Colombo, everyone was doing their own little parties, no decorations, no visible interests seen.
Emilka’s friend Lorin kept coming to discuss plans for the past two weeks and the meet point was the pool at 18.30 on Thursday 31st October, where everyone (about 10 kids and 5 mums) congregated to start Trick or Treat by the pre warned apartments.
Nela was staying with us that day too, so as soon as we got home from school at 17.30, they had “only” 60 mins to get ready their faces! Clown faces!
Kids left, I prepared my basket of goodies, this year not chocolate, practical stuff like pencils, sharpeners, highlighters and glow sticks. I quickly drew a clown on my face, switched the lights off in the apartment and waited for the gang as I knew they were coming to me first.
They rang the doorbell, I swung the door open and screamed at them – the horror on their little faces was priceless! When they realized it was only one crazy mum, they were ok. They all happily took the goodies and carried on with Trick or Treating until 19.30. My Three returned home with a big bag of goodies, which they all shared equally between each other.
In Czech on this day we remember the Loved Ones who have gone before us, so my candles were on for them to see us from heaven.
