12th and 13th June, 2023

Our friend Pavel suggested that he drive us for a trip to Galle for ‘one more time’, so that’s exaactly what we did.  We stayed at the Merchant Hotel which manages to be calm and relaxing during the day and with a nice gentle vibe in the evening, despite being in the centre of this bustling town with noisy narrow streets. 

I was working during both days but it still made a nice change and in the evening this included going to the Persian Kitchen for tasty Iranian barbeque and a bottle of Shiraz-Cabernet purchased en route.  Back in Galle, this was followed by a night time walk around the ramparts where I was surprised to find a split-screen Morris Minor like the one that my parents owned sixty years ago.

Heavy rain and strong wind passed through on the second day but this did nothing to dampen the occasion even if all too soon, we were back in Colombo.
