Karagastalawa

Friday 2ndJune – Sunday 4th June 2023

A romantic weekend with Steve in a wooden chalet without walls, only ceiling-to-floor rattan roll down blinds, in the middle of nature.  A lovely gift from from the owners after I supported them on their journey to parenthood.

Arrival was well after dark and involved a transfer from car to 4×4 for a bumpy ride down a long track under moonlight – full moon light, this being a Poya day.

Only us and the owners with their 2 month-old boy in a camp with four chalets generously spread out, being looked after well, with yummy Sri Lankan food and all that is the natual environment around us. A trip to private waterfalls and rock pools in the wildness was a bonus.  Being nibbled by flesh-eating fish was ticklish – as you can see in the photo of Steve and I standing in the water!

Peace, tranquillity, virgin nature with all it’s beauty and noises day and night, and time together without a laptop in sight.  Priceless.

M&E wanted to stay at home with computer games and gadgets. I hope that one day they will appreciate these moments of connecting with nature too and have the opportunity to do so.
