With a heavy wooden elephant to pack and protect from becoming bruised, I took a tuk tuk to Pettah on the serch for tri-wall cardboard and a long roll of bubblewrap.  Mission accomplished, it was also an interesting time exploring beyond the market that Pettah is famous for and in to the smallholdings such as those specialising in reselling flat packed boxes that once held washing machines and the like.  In the UK they’d go to recycling.  Not here.  There is a whole industry around re-using packaging for profit and after some toing and froing under scorching sunshine I was able to purchase what I needed.
