Saturday 17th – Sunday 18th December 2022

A bit late, but never mind!

Our very dear friend Aruna invited me and Steve to join his employees for an end of year party, treating us to a weekend in the Cinnamon Bey (correct spelling) Hotel in Beruwala, 57km south of Colombo.

We had a few things to juggle with me having a short presentation in the morning and being picked up by a driver afterwards and taken to the hotel, and Steve having a whole day work event of which he was the sponsor.   He left this at 10pm and arrived at the hotel about an hour later.   Our kids wanted to stay at home, studying.

I spent the afternoon by the pool and walking on the beach, having a delicious buffet dinner with everyone and hearing the karaoke singing from the part animals until midnight.  Steve came just in time for a night cap with Aruna and another friend before finding me in bed.  Seven hours of solid sleep in crispy white bed linen was a tonic for us both.  I had a walk in the garden at 7.30am followed buy enjoying a coffee on the bedroom terrace as a beautiful start to the day.

A delicious breakfast followed as always when staying in a nice hotel.  Such a huge variety of high quality food for every pallete. The best part (in my opinion) from staying in a hotel like this.  A quick dip in a warm pool followed before driving home to be with our family for the afternoon. 

I love “me time” and being looked after to be able to relax from the bustle of the city. What a privilege to have such generous friends and opportunities to do so.
