School fashion show

Saturday 15th October 2022

This event was a long time coming, being ten months in preparation including with auditions and the designers’ competition following in May.  Outfits were made over the summer holiday and once school started in September, they had rehearsals each morning up until two weeks prior when the intensity increased with the addition of daily afternoon rehearsal, too. The week of the show was pretty intense for Emi as she was also sitting half term exams and having her birthday.  She held it together though and enjoyed it.

Sitting in the audience, we were very proud seeing her strutting her stuff on the cat walk, especially as we knew how hard she had worked for her minute in the limelight and the immense amount of hard work from so many that had gone in to a slick and professional event. She looked so beautiful and  grown up, especially walking in her 10cm high platform heels she had been given from us as a birthday present.

Misa admitted after seeing Emi and a male friend of his that he regretted turning down the opportunity to participate. We each make our choices. We as parents can navigate and point in the right direction, but our kids must walk their path on their own with us only as observers.

Steve enjoyed the technical challenge of photography in demanding lighting conditions, so here are some of his pictures and one of us with the school principal taken by another photographer.
