Talpe Weekend

Friday 8th April to Sunday 10th April 2022

We were planning to go for a weekend to Ratnapura waterfall with two of our friends and their families, but as they decided not to go at the last minute, we cancelled the trip and instead joined Steve’s Auntie Di and Uncle Dave and two further generations of family in Talpe spending a wonderful weekend with them.

We picked up our kids straight from school when it conveniently ended at lunch time and drove straight there, arriving at the villa at 3pm in time for  English Breakfast tea and freshly baked Czech cakes. The villa was very spacious and of course we had to go to the beach and try the Swing of Talpe.  All six kids loved it.

A tasty freshly caught crab curry dinner was amazing, and to our surprise  Misa preferred it over the schnitzel and mashed potatoes that Emi had.   Whilst dinner was being prepared for serving, Misa found a hermit crab that was happy to run along his arm!

Saturday was an afternoon at Dewata Surf School after a lovely family breakfast.  I especially love breakfasts when someone can make it for me. I was first up in the garden enjoying the view of the palms and the ocean and its sound. So energising. Surfing was a success this time with Misa cool on the board, Emilka standing nicely and me holding balance the best ever.

Gin and Tonic after dinner was a must and Steve loved mixing it to all who wished. Girls played really nicely and boys – well, give them any gadget and they will be well behaved for hours.

Auntie Di and her family left for the airport very early on Sunday morning but we had a leisurely breakfast and drove home via the scenic route. Another memorable weekend in a villa with character and delicious food, time to chill and recharge batteries.

Kids started their Easter holiday with a nice family weekend and 15 days off school in total – lucky  them.
