Holiday 3 of 6 – Mond at Hiriketiya
Tuesday 19th -Thursday 21st October 2021
The middle part of our half term holiday was spent in an elevated house between trees. Not a treehouse as such, but giving a treescape view. The boys had one called Waxing and us girls one called Waning.
Also along the South coast, this time in the small village of Hiriketiya known for budget hotels/accommodations as surfing heaven. A completely new experience for us with no air conditioning, being an open place with invitation for all kind of bugs or/and animals in the forest and all the “noise of nature”, especially birds and peacocks. The latter were very noisily calling each other until the early hours of the morning – exactly 1.30 as I was awake. Emi and I awoke on the second morning to find that we had a monkey for company – though thankfully nothing taken!
I was hoping to do some surfing, but my family preferred just to relax on this occasion so I ditched that idea this time so as not to ridicule myself alone! Going for breakfasts and dinners, mooching on the beach, jumping the waves in the ocean, catching up with a lady who I helped in her pregnancy and being as a family with no hurry was bliss. It was after a long time we could say we had some quality family time.
