Birthday lunch for a friend

Monday 7th June 2021

Fort the first time ever I was able to bake a birthday cake (carrot cake with cream cheese filling) for my friend Katka who I have known since we were 12.  She was celebrating her birthday on 24th May and I was in the Czech Republic, albeit still in isolation.

When out of isolation I took the opportunity of her having a half day off from work and her husband taking care of her three children and treated her to a lunch under the sun in a newly opened swanky bistro called “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” in the middle of the town Krnov.  We talked and talked and talked as we had time for each other and no-one to disturb us. She was pleasantly surprised she enjoyed tasty Minestrone soup and a Yellow Thai curry with Jasmine rice. I was pleased she liked Asian food and was proud she let herself try new things instead of her favourite tomato sauce and dumplings as originally planned.
